Here is a short video to show how to give a copper bolus to a goat.
We use the 4 gram copper boluses from Ultra Cruz, and a cat pill gun. All of these items can be found on Amazon (click on the product and it will take you to the amazon listing).
Here is some ways to tell if your goat needs more copper.
- Rough coat
- Brown/rust spots show up on black goats (goat's coats never sun bleach, so if their coat turns brown, they more than likely need copper.)
- Fish tail (not always a good indicator)
Copper can be given to goats as often as twice a year. Some goats might require more copper than others. And it also depends on the amount of copper found in your soil.
I always follow up with lots of cookies or goat treats.
